THE PROJECT SCOPE:

Our team is making a documentary called 'Lädy'. The documentary explores race in the world of art and fashion. We have already shot about 20 hours of footage but we still need another 300 hours of footage to create and complete the documentary. We are currently in the pre-production phase of the film.

'Lädy' explores the life and trials of Lädy Millard a street artist that thinks that she has the answer to ending racism.

WHY WE NEED THE MONEY:

We are asking for $1,500 to produce a trailer for the documentary. The money will be used for pre-production costs including equipment and space. We will use the trailer to shop around the documentary to different funding sources.

If we raise $40,000 during this first pass we will be able to complete the documentary.

THE STORY

Lady Millard, is a Street Anthropologist and Artist raised in New York City. Born in Jamaica West Indies to a racially diverse family. This documentary is about her attempts to end racism through art. The reason we decided to start this project is because, we believe in here story.

She wants to start a dialogue with people about the negative ideas they may have about one another based on skin color.

I am asking for $1,500 to film a trailer that highlights my journey towards this goal. Our team includes myself, and five other young New Yorkers concerned with addressing racism in our society. Soumya Gowda, Shaina Yang, Azure McBride, Jeff Arak, and Ed Garrido. We will use the trailer funded by this campaign to shop the documentary to producers and grant givers.

Racism has an influence on all of us, not just those who recognize it on a daily basis. Through personal experience, I've learned that my education and merits as a designer in the fashion industry have not exempt me from racism. Though a harsh reality, it's made me determined to ask why this is the case, and how we can work together to create a better world for all of us. With your help I believe we can make this happen.

SUMMARY:

Lädy Millard is starting a global movement to End Racism through Art.
